Disaster Management & Earthquake Safety

Date : 03 Mar 2012
Time : 10.00 AM - 06.00 PM
Fee  : 2500 BDT/Participant
Training venue :
Wings Center
House # 55, Road # 4A, Dhanmondi, Dhaka
Training Objective
Bangladesh is situated in a highly seismically active region which has experienced some earthquakes in the past and according to the earth scientists, there is a high possibility that strong earthquakes will continue to strike the region for the foreseeable future. A number of efforts have been launched to improve earthquake safety, but the needs are massive, and much work remains to be done.

Unlike other natural hazards, earthquakes strike suddenly and without warning. Nevertheless, if you live in an area at risk for earthquakes (visit Earthquake Risk by State and Territory), there are things that you can do for earthquake preparedness to reduce the chances that you or other members of your household will be injured, that your property will be damaged, or that your home life will be unduly disrupted by an earthquake. These things all fit under the term earthquake preparedness, because to be effective, they must be done before earthquakes occur.

In this training, the participants will learn what steps to take and which supplies to have ready in case of an earth quake or any other emergency. They will become familiar with escape routes, safe locations to ride out the disaster, basic first aid, and what to do in the following 72 hours while awaiting professional rescue crews.

The training on Earth Quake & Disaster Management involves:

(1) Learning what people should do before, during, and after earthquakes
(2) Doing or preparing to do those things now, before the next quake
(3) Preparedness & Management of other disaster, with special emphasis on fire disaster
